tianjin-bike-show-entrance.jpgThe North China International Bike Show was held this past weekend in Tianjin. The theme of the show was environmental awareness and the promotion of electric vehicles. The show was held in 2 small exhibition centers and concentrated primarily on mainland products and companies , although Trek had a small stand and we found a Mongoose hidden away in a stand promoting saddles.

The most interesting things we saw were a homemade suspension bike (not even in the exhibition, but outside the show with its proud owner).

And this rather strange contraption with an off-center front wheel, which although interesting to ride really served no purpose other than making the rider feel a little sea sick.

There was also an area which concentrated on bike designs, which students from the local university had come up with, unfortunately only two bikes were shown in the flesh the rest were concept sketches.

The show was easily viewed in only a few hours, leaving my hunger for new bikes and products unsatisfied, luckily we don’t have to wait long for the fantastic Shanghai bike show in April. You can see more of our Tianjin photos over at the chinamtb Flickr page.
